Facilities / Location Report

FACILITIES / LOCATION

When you made a video or whatever, maybe you need to shoot something.

There’s two places you can shoot something :

    1. FACILITY
You can say this as indoors, but that’s not exact define of this word, so don’t trust it too much.
Facilities are the places you book. Somewhere you can film or shoot something, but you must hire them to do that sort of things.
For example, if you want to film a video in green screen, you have to borrow a studio which includes green screen.
    2. LOCATION
There’s some other places that you shoot but not facilities. We call that places as Locations.
Let’s assume that you want to take a film in Gyeongbokgung. Than you have to get a permission from someone in there. In this case Gyeongbokgung will be a location.
But you can’t just go and film in location. First you need a permission. If you don’t have it but just go and try to shoot in there, you might kick out. So you need Recce.
      Recce
: A little slang of Reconnaissance. Visiting a place or area to search and be familiar with it.
If you go to Gyeongbokgung filming, you need to go recce to Gyeongbokgung and get permission for filming there.
In addition, when you go shooting in locations, you need to consider Health and Safety. If you try to film in Seoul station. There’s millions of people, and they might disturb your film. Or when you using a tripod in there, some people may get stuck and fell off with it. You should think about what trouble or problem will happen when you filming in locations.
